Have yourself a gluten free Christmas!

16 December 2018

It’s almost Christmas, yay! But then, help, what can I eat without flaring up? If the thought of a gluten-free Christmas (or dairy-free Christmas) makes you wonder what on earth you can enjoy, then don’t panic! It really isn’t as limiting as you might think.

First, it’s important to say that I’m no genius on what will work for you. We’re all different, and it might be a case of trial and error to find any trigger foods or ingredients. But I know exactly what works for me, and that’s avoiding gluten, dairy and refined sugar. I used to think this would be really difficult, especially at Christmas, but it really isn’t anymore!

Gluten free Christmas treats

Thankfully, there are tonnes of ‘free from’ products around these days so it’s much easier for those of us trying to avoid certain foods. There’s almost always an alternative out there and if there isn’t you can generally find an online recipe to make yourself instead.

Have I mentioned before that I LOVE food?! Following an eating regime that’s right for my skin doesn’t mean missing out or going without. It means being creative, discovering new foods and trying out different recipes.

Here are a few of the great Christmas goodies I’ve found:

Mrs Chrimble’s Gluten-Free Stuffing

There’s a great recipe on FoodFaithFitness too for gluten-free stuffing

The Foods of Athenry Starry Gluten-Free Mince Pies

Tesco Free From Gluten, Milk and Wheat-Free Mince Pies

My Raw Joy Vegan Raw Chocolate

Matthew Walker Gluten-Free Christmas Pudding

Make your own gluten and dairy-free Yule log with this recipe from Free-From Heaven (tip from me is to swap the icing sugar for coconut sugar).

Like I say, there’s so much out there, this is just a little taster! If you’re visiting friends or family for Christmas and you’re following a specific eating regime, it’s always a good idea to take a few bits with you. It can take the pressure off your hosts and you know you’ll be eating just the right things for you!

So let’s eat drink and be merry this Christmas!

Lots of love, Camille xx
